Microsoft is shifting its focus to a software-led Metaverse strategy. The company will be focusing on building the software infrastructure that will power the metaverse, this is a move from the company’s previous focus on hardware, such as the HoloLens. Microsoft believes that the metaverse will be powered by software and that is their play in the space.
Google is planning to test its new augmented reality glasses in public.  It’s been nearly a decade after privacy concerns during their first attempt at ar glasses. Since then Google has made notable acquisitions such as Focals by North and and revealed speech recognition features during its developer conference in May. Google still remains coy about its full specs.
VR Awards and Immersive Tech Week unite for Europe’s largest event. Earmark your calendars for Nov 28-Dec 02 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The VR Awards black-tie event will round out the week-long event’s extensive in person conference and networking program from ITW. Be there to experience the biggest celebration of our industry yet.
Bored Ape founders are excited about their new project, Otherside. The two founders are working on a shared virtual space where people can connect and interact with each other. Otherside will be a place where people can come together to create and share experiences. ‘We can build a city where thousands of people interact — this is like the level of Grand Theft Auto but in real time with real players.’
