Sony says the PlayStation VR2 is going to launch in early 2023. The headset will have various outstanding features, including 4K resolution, a 110-degree field of view, and foveated rendering. Sony has also announced that there will be 20 major games available when the PlayStation VR2 launches.

Meta rolls out the new Metaverse ID system. Meta has created two new ways for people to log in to their VR devices: Meta accounts and Meta Horizon Profiles. The company is ditching the old way of logging on after complaints about privacy concerns regarding using personal social media accounts.

Mark Zuckerberg says Meta's VR headset will launch in October. Mark told Joe Rogan that 'Project Cambria' will be more expensive than the existing Quest headset, and will have a high-resolution colour screen, internal sensors for eye tracking, and sophisticated passthrough augmented reality.

The BFI London Film Festival announces their immersive lineup "LFF Expanded" which will showcase works from creators working with emerging technologies, like virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, and immersive audio experiences.

In Funding

Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster Boosts China’s AR startup Nreal with $15M funding. The investment came just five months after its $60 million Series C extension, making its total raised to $240 million since 2017.

Ready Player Me secures $56M in a Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from other notable investors including David Baszucki, co-founder of Roblox. Ready Player Me is a cross-game avatar platform.

Inworld AI has raised $50 million in a Series A funding round led by Section 32 and Intel Capital. Inworld is a Metaverse virtual character creator that enables the design and deployment of AI-powered interactive characters for the metaverse in minutes.

Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal raised $50 million for emerging web3 venture fund. A venture capital fund built by and for web3 founders. Nailwal, alongside Cere co-founder Kenzi Wang, has raised $50 million from investors.

Meta opens applications for the AR/VR Africa Metathon in VR. The series is aimed at supporting African XR talents to build innovative solutions.

For their 50th anniversary Nike and BUCK have partnered up to create a WebAR experience. Allowing people to see Nike's past, present, and future.

The Beijing government has announced a plan to improve the Metaverse. The plan requires the tracking of trends in NFT technology.

Snoop Dogg and Eminem to enter the metaverse for VMAs performance. MTV has partnered with Yuga Labs to bring this performance to life.
