The company will be focusing on building the software infrastructure that will power the metaverse, this is a move from the company's previous focus on hardware, such as the HoloLens. Microsoft believes that the metaverse will be powered by software and that is their play in the space.
Google is planning to test its new augmented reality glasses in public. It's been nearly a decade after privacy concerns during their first attempt at ar glasses. Since then Google has made notable acquisitions such as Focals by North and and revealed speech recognition features during its developer conference in May. Google still remains coy about its full specs.
